Why the "exception" traders never actually become one
Words I like: "Everyone thinks they'll be the exception. That's exactly why so few of them are."
99% of traders online will tell you it takes years to become profitable.
Every new trader nods along, then secretly believes they’ll do it in 3 months.
Wrong.
I get it though. I thought the same thing.
Watched a few YouTube videos, funded my first account, figured I’d be pulling five figures by month two.
Here’s what actually happened.
Month one, I gave back half my account chasing setups I didn’t understand yet.
Month two, I did it again with more size, because apparently that’s a totally logical decision to make when you’re down.
Month six, I was still net negative.
Three years in is when things started clicking.
Not because I found the secret indicator.
Because I finally stopped treating the first six months like a test I was supposed to pass on the first try.
Think about a kid learning to walk. Nobody expects him to sprint by week two. He falls, gets back up, falls again, and everyone in the room thinks that’s completely normal.
Somehow traders show up expecting to skip that part entirely.
The 99% who say it takes years aren’t being pessimistic.
They’re the ones who actually made it, telling you what really happened to them.
The 1% who think they’re the exception usually aren’t skipping the timeline.
They’re just quitting before it’s up, convinced something’s wrong with them instead of realizing everyone goes through this.
Give yourself the actual timeline instead of the fantasy one.
You’ll trade better because you won’t be panicking every time month three doesn’t look like the highlight reel.
